From Anglo-French conveier / Old French convoiier, from Vulgar Latin conviare 'to accompany on the way', from Latin com- 'with, together' + via 'way, road'. The earliest English sense (early 14c) was 'to go along with, carry, transport'; 'communicate by transmission' appeared in the late 14th century, and the legal property sense from the 1520s.
來自古法文 convoiier，源頭是拉丁文 com-（一起）加 via（路），字面是「陪著走這段路」。十四世紀初進入英文時就是「載運、帶著走」；十四世紀晚期才長出「把訊息傳過去」的用法，法律上的產權移轉則要到 1520 年代。所以 via（路）這個根其實一直在：不管送的是貨、是意思，還是一棟房子的所有權，都是「讓它走過一段距離，到另一邊」。
