To admit that something is true, even though it does not change your main opinion.
承認
You can picture grant as someone in a position to decide handing over a thing the other person asked for — a yes spoken from above. The person below requests; the person with the power (an official, a court, a god, a boss) lets it pass through. From that one gesture of 'I let you have it' grow both the formal granting of permission and the money 'granted' for a purpose, and even the quieter 'I'll let you have that point' of an argument.
