From Latin concelare 'to hide carefully' (con-, an intensifier, + celare 'to hide'), via Old French conceler. The root celare also lies behind cell and ceiling — things that shut a space away.
來自拉丁文 concelare（仔細地藏起來）：con- 是加強語氣，celare 是「藏」，中間經過古法文 conceler。celare 這個根也留在 cell（密閉的小室）、ceiling（天花板）這些「把空間遮起來」的字裡。所以 conceal 從一開始帶的就不只是「藏」，而是「小心地、確實地遮住」——那個 con- 就是它比 hide 更用力、更正式的原因。
