One way to picture pastiche: a pie with borrowed fillings stirred into it. You can still taste where each filling came from, and that is the whole point, because the maker wants the borrowing noticed. Sometimes the pie carries just one borrowed flavour, and that is work made in another artist's style. Sometimes several are stirred in at once. Stirred well, it is a skill; stirred badly, it is just scraps in a crust.
