A scrapbook is a book of empty pages where you stick things you want to keep: photos, tickets, newspaper cuttings, , little notes. The scrap here is not rubbish; it is a small piece you saved. Families used to make them by hand with glue and tape; some people still do, as a quiet hobby, and you can use scrapbook as a verb — to spend an afternoon making one. A photo album is mostly photos in a tidy order. A scrapbook is messier and more personal: different little things sharing one page, often with writing around them. Computer apps now copy the same idea on a screen, and people still call that a scrapbook.
