    Originality is the quality of being new — not a copy, not the usual idea, not the same as what everyone else already made. A story has originality when the idea feels fresh. A student shows originality when the answer is their own, not lifted from the page. Teachers praise it; companies say they want it. Though actually, people also use it loosely, as a kind word that just means I liked this or this looks a bit different. Full originality is rare: most new things are old pieces put together in a new way. You do not say an originality. It is the quality itself, not a countable thing.
