A medley is a mixture of different things put together. In music, a medley is several different songs (or parts of songs) played one after another as one piece. In swimming, a "medley" race means the uses four different strokes in one race. More generally, people use it for any pleasant mix — "a medley of vegetables" just means a mix of different vegetables.
