核心畫面

One way to picture this word: stand at 'now' and look back the way you came — everything behind that line has already gone by. That single idea, 'already gone by, on the far side of a line', does two jobs. In time it points backward: the time before now, things that are finished, former titles. In space it points beyond: you keep moving and the shop, the gate, the hour all slip behind you. Same picture — a line you have already gone past — used once for time and once for place.
