to the other side · r · A2
Over to the other side of something, crossing its whole width.
You can picture across as a line drawn straight over the top of something from one edge to the far edge: a finger sliding over a table from this side to that side. Everything across means starts from this single picture of crossing the whole width of a space.

from one side to the other · r · A2
Going from one side of an area to the other, used to show where something is or reaches.
on the opposite side · r · A2
On the opposite side of something, such as a road or river.
throughout (an area or group) · r · A2
In or through every part of a large area or group.
