You can picture 'clear' as a space with nothing in the way: no clouds, no dirt, no crowd, no fog — light and sight and movement all pass straight through. From that one picture grow two directions: a path you can move through (not blocked), and a thing you can see or understand through (not cloudy). Everything else is one of those two, pushed onto weather, water, the mind, money, or guilt.
