核心畫面

One picture holds all of wired: a wire has been put in place. It may be visible, or hidden inside a wall, a machine, a room or a piece of cloth. Once it is there, the thing is joined to something larger — a power supply, a network, or a person listening at the other end. The -ed ending makes this a finished state: the wire is already in. Put the same picture on a person and you get someone who seems to have current running through them and cannot settle. And when the wire is sewn into a material rather than carrying anything, what it holds up is the shape.

Wiktionary records the word simply as wire + -ed, that is, having had wire put in or on. Every use on this page still fits that: the wire is in place, and what changes is what it does.
