From sizzle, probably from Middle English sissen 'to hiss'; ultimately imitative.
sizzle 可能來自中古英文 sissen「發出嘶嘶聲」，屬擬聲。
A piece of meat dropped into a hot pan: the heat is loud. One way to hold the word is that it never describes temperature alone, it describes heat that announces itself, and everything else the word does is that noise moved somewhere new.
