值得尊敬(行為與人品)
這一家最貼近字面:有人做了一件事,旁人看了覺得配得上敬意。差別只在那道目光停在哪裡——停在單一動作上,還是停在這個人長期的樣子上。
adjective · B2
Used about an action, a job, or a way of doing something that other people look at and judge to be right and good, so it earns their respect.
值得尊敬的
One way to hold this word: honour + -able, meaning able to be honoured. Picture other people looking at something and deciding it is worth their respect. That look can land on an action, such as carrying a lost phone to the station office. It can land on a person who keeps a promise when keeping it costs them. It can land on a deal that leaves nobody cheated and nobody . And it can be frozen into a fixed label that sits in front of a name, where it no longer says anything about the person and only marks the office they hold.
Wiktionary traces honourable through Middle English and Old French honorable to Latin honorabilis, from honoro, to honour; by surface analysis it is honour + -able. The modern uses still sit close to that literal sense of able to be honoured.
根據 Wiktionary,honourable 經由中古英語、古法文 honorable 上溯到拉丁文 honōrābilis,來自 honōrō(給予敬意);從字面拆開就是 honour + -able。今天的各種用法都還貼著「可以被給予敬意的」這個字面意思。

各方都說得過去的安排
敬意這時候不是給人,而是給一份安排:它拿得出去、見得了人。判斷的標準也從「這個人好不好」換成「每一方是不是都能點頭,而且都不必低頭」。
adjective · C1
Used about an agreement, an arrangement, or a way of ending a disagreement that treats every side fairly, so that nobody is cheated and nobody has to feel ashamed of accepting it.
公平的(協議)
名字前面的頭銜 Honourable
同一個「配得上敬意」被固定下來,變成印在名字前的標籤。它跟著職位或出身走,不隨這個人今天做了什麼而改變,所以這一家和前面兩家最大的差別是:它不再是評價,只是身分的記號。
adjective · C1
Written with a capital H and used in front of a person's name as a formal title: in Britain for the children of some lords and for judges and Members of Parliament, and in the United States for judges and senior government officials.
