From componere (com- 'together' + ponere 'to place') = to put together. Around 1600 compose also meant 'bring into a settled, calm state', which is exactly the 'composed = calm' sense: your feelings placed neatly together instead of scattered.
來自 componere（com-「一起」＋ ponere「放置」）＝把各部分放到一起。大約一六〇〇年，compose 也有了「使安定、平靜下來」的意思，這正是 composed＝沉著的來源：把情緒一件件安放整齊，而不是四散慌亂。
