calm · adjective · B2
Looking and feeling calm and in control of your feelings, even in a hard or upsetting time.
You can think of composed as everything being deliberately put together in order, each part placed just so — not thrown together in a heap. Whether it's a person holding their feelings in neat order, or food set out piece by piece on a plate, the picture is the same: arranged on purpose, calm and settled, not messy.
From componere (com- 'together' + ponere 'to place') = to put together. Around 1600 compose also meant 'bring into a settled, calm state', which is exactly the 'composed = calm' sense: your feelings placed neatly together instead of scattered.
來自 componere(com-「一起」+ ponere「放置」)=把各部分放到一起。
