Picture pulling something back out of a place it had been put into — troops out of a country, money out of an account, your name off a list, a statement taken back. Two things are always true: it was in, and now it is being drawn out. The last one is the hardest, because there the thing being withdrawn is a drug the body had come to expect, and what is left is the gap.
