You reach for a box that looks like it should be a struggle, and it comes up almost without effort — nothing about it pulls down on your arm. That is the picture in lightweight: among things of its kind, this one presses on you the least. English also uses weight for how much something counts, so the same easy-to-lift feeling can be pointed at a person or an idea, and then it stops being a compliment.
