If something is insignificant, it is too small or too to consider or worry about. A tiny mistake, a small amount of money, a detail that does not change the story — those can be insignificant. The opposite is significant. It can sound cold if you use it about a person, as if their feelings do not count; with people, not noticed or left out is often kinder. Though actually, in science you will also hear statistically insignificant, which is a special use: the numbers do not show a real effect, not that the topic is silly. Do not confuse this word with , which is a badge.
