核心畫面

One way to hold this word: something has been used until there is nothing left in it, and nobody is going to repair it. A phone that will not switch on. A plan with no way out of it. A person who has walked all day and cannot lift their legs. The word does not say what happened; it says the thing is past saving, and it says it with a shove. That shove is the other half of the word — this is one of the rudest words in English, and it lands hard on anyone who was not expecting it.

From the word’s history

Wiktionary gives the form as fuck + -ed, so the adjective is simply the past participle used to describe a state.

字典把這個字拆成 fuck 加上字尾 -ed,所以它本來就是過去分詞,只是被拿來當形容詞用,描述一個已經造成的狀態。

Wiktionary entry for fucked (etymology_text in the supplied evidence packet): From fuck + -ed.

Three branches

東西或處境毀了

核心畫面最直接的兩種落點:壞掉的東西,和走不出去的處境。

adjective · B2

Broken so badly that there is no point trying to fix it, or in such bad condition that it does not work any more.

adjective · C1

Very wrong or upsetting — used about a situation, a rule, or the way someone behaved, when you think it is unfair or hard to accept. A short form of fucked up.

很扯、很糟

懶得動

從「電用完了」再走一步:不是不能做,是不肯把僅剩的力氣花在這上面。

adjective · C1

If you can't be fucked to do something, you have no energy or interest to do it, even though you could do it if you wanted to.

懶得(做某事)
