From Latin suppressus, past participle of supprimō "press down or under", from sub- "under" + premō "press" — the same premō that gives press, pressure, and compress.
來自拉丁文 supprimō，由 sub-（在下面）+ premō（壓）組成，字面就是「往下壓、壓在底下」；press、pressure、compress 都是同一個 premō 的家族。知道這一點之後，suppress 的四個用法就不是四件事，而是同一個「往下按」的動作，作用在不同的東西上。
