看得見的鉤子:形狀與配件
這一族講的是實物:不是整體彎成鉤狀,就是身上多裝了一個鉤子。共同點是鉤子看得見、摸得到。
adjective · B2
Bent into a curve at the end, in the shape of a hook — said about a nose, a beak, a claw, or anything with that bent-over shape.
鉤狀的
Think of a single hook. Two things are true about it at once: it is bent over at the end, and once it catches something, that thing does not come off easily. Every use of hooked takes one of those two. A nose, a , a claw is hooked because of the bend. A pole or a rail is hooked because a hook has been fitted onto it. And a person is hooked because something has caught them and will not let go — a show they cannot stop watching, or a drug their body keeps asking for.
Wiktionary gives hooked as hook + -ed. The suffix does double duty on nouns: 'having this thing' and 'caught by this thing', which is exactly where the two branches of the modern word come from.
根據 Wiktionary,hooked 就是 hook 加上 -ed。這個字尾加在名詞後面時本來就有兩種力道:一種是「帶有這個東西」,像 bearded;一種是「被這個東西弄成這樣」。今天 hooked 的兩條路,正好就是這兩種力道各走一邊。
Wiktionary entry 'hooked' (packet source_ref kaikki:3f6f69a190036ae4:1051358956): "From hook + -ed."
