從頭到腳的整個人
這一組量的是站著的人:畫面、衣服、畫作都一路走到腳底為止,沒有在胸口或膝蓋停下來。
adjective · B2
Showing the whole of a person, from head to feet, with nothing cut off. It is used about mirrors, photographs, portraits and other pictures.
全身的
Picture something measured from one end to the other, with nothing trimmed off either end. The thing being measured is usually a person. A full-length mirror gives you your shoes as well as your face; a full-length dress runs the same distance in cloth; a person lying full-length takes up every they have. When the thing being measured is a film or an album instead of a body, the idea does not change: you are getting the whole of it, not a short version.
The word is simply full plus length: the whole of the length, not a part of it. That literal make-up is still exactly what every use of the word does.
這個字就是 full(滿的、完整的)加上 length(長度)拼起來的:整個長度都在,不是其中一段。這個字面組合到今天仍然說明了它所有的用法。
