Picture the gap in a wall that lets you in: a door, a gate, an with people passing through it. Entrance can be thought of as that opening — and then as everything that happens at it. The noun entrance ('act of entering' 1520s, 'door, gate' 1530s) comes from French entrance, from entrer 'to enter'. The verb entrance 'to put into a trance, to delight' (1590s) is a separate, later English formation: en- 'in, into' + the noun trance. The two words are etymologically distinct and only look alike.
