You can picture 'correct' as something that lines up exactly with the true facts or the right answer — no gap, no mistake between what is and what should be. From that one picture, two directions grow: a thing can already BE in that lined-up state (the adjective), or you can ACT to push a wrong thing back into that lined-up state (the verb).
