continual + the English adverb suffix -ly (from Old English -līċe "in the manner of"); continual traces to Latin continuus "uninterrupted", from contineō (con- "together" + teneō "hold") — "in a manner of holding on without letting go".
continually 就是 continual 加上英文副詞尾 -ly(源自古英語 -līċe,本義「以…的樣子」)。continual 上溯拉丁文 continuus(不間斷的),出自 contineō(con- 一起 + teneō 握住)。所以整個字面是「以握著不放的方式」——動作被一直握著,不讓它結束。
