You can picture a hand that does not shake. Whatever it is doing, it keeps the same level, the same speed, the same direction — nothing jumps, nothing wobbles, nothing stops. Both uses of steadily come back to that unshaking hand: one puts it in a person (calm eyes, calm breathing), the other stretches it over time (a line on a chart that keeps climbing).

Two branches

calmly, without stopping · r · B2

In a calm way, without stopping — often used with looking, breathing, or moving.

gradually, continuously · r · B2

Slowly and continually, without stopping — a change or move that keeps going.
