below ground · adjective · B2
Below the surface of the ground.
地下的
Picture a layer of earth over your head: whatever is under it cannot be seen from the street. Underground can be thought of as carrying two things at once — the literal position (below the surface) and everything that comes with being out of sight (nobody watching, no permission needed, no crowd). English uses the same word for a train tunnel, for a group hiding from the government, and for music that never reaches the mainstream, because all three sit under that same layer of earth, real or imagined.

niche and alternative · adjective · B2
Describing books, music, or art made for a small group, and seen as strange or surprising by most people.
