A niche is a small, specific part of a bigger market or area, made for a particular group of people with particular needs or interests, like 'a niche market' for very specific products most people don't need. It can also mean a small hollow space in a wall, often made to hold a statue, though the 'specific area' meaning is far more common today. People also use 'niche' as an adjective, like 'a very niche interest'.
