From Old English snāwiġ; snow + -y.

源自古英文 snāwiġ，就是 snow 加上 -y。

You can picture a scene with snow all over it — a road, a roof, a whole gone soft and white. 'Snowy' just hangs that scene on a noun: a snowy morning is a morning with snow falling or lying on everything. From there the word can keep only the colour and let the snow itself go, so that anything that white gets called snowy too.

可以想成一片被雪蓋住的景色——一條路、一片屋頂、整座山坡都變得又白又軟。snowy 做的事，就是把這個畫面掛到名詞上：a snowy morning 就是一個正在下雪、或到處積著雪的早晨。再往下走，這個字可以只留住「那個白」而把雪本身放掉，所以任何白成那樣的東西，也可以叫 snowy。
