Ivory is the hard, smooth, white material that elephant , and some other animals' teeth, are made of. In the past, it was into jewelry, piano keys, and decorations - but today, selling new ivory is illegal in most places because so many elephants were killed for it. 'Ivory' is also used as a color name for a soft, creamy white, like 'an ivory dress'.
