核心畫面

One way to hold this word is the plain physical thing it names: the waste a body pushes out. Three facts about it do all the work. Nobody wants it. It is worth nothing. And saying its name out loud is itself a small dirty act. The source traces the word from Middle English schit back to Old English scite (dung) and scitte (diarrhoea), and further back to a root meaning to split or separate. That fits the plain sense: what the body separates out and pushes away.
