從『完整』到『人格的完整』
兩個意思共用同一個『完整、沒被動過』的畫面:一個是實體上的完整,一個是把這個畫面搬到人的品格上。
wholeness · noun · C2
The state of being whole and complete, with all the parts joined together as one and not damaged.
完整;完整性
You can picture 'integrity' as something whole and untouched — all its parts still joined into one solid piece, nothing broken off, nothing with. From that one image grow both meanings: a bridge with structural integrity, and a person whose character is whole and undivided — they don't say one thing and do another.
From Latin integritas 'soundness, wholeness, completeness', from integer 'whole', which is in- 'not' + the root of tangere 'to touch' — literally 'untouched, untainted'. The moral sense (uprightness, honesty) grew out of that picture of an untouched, undivided whole.
來自拉丁文 integritas(紮實、完整),字根 integer 是『完整』,由 in-(不)加 tangere(觸碰)構成,字面意思就是『未被觸碰、未被污染』。『誠信、正直』這層道德意思,就是從這個『未被碰過、不分裂的完整』畫面長出來的。
