心裡那份不安
晃動長在人身上:把「我覺得自己站不穩」變成一份可以承認、可以數的東西。
self-doubt · noun · C2
The feeling of not being sure about yourself, about what you can do, or about how other people feel toward you.
不安全感
Insecurity is insecure turned into a thing you can name and count. Picture the wobble itself lifted out and put on the table: not 'the shelf is loose' but 'the looseness'. Once it is a noun you can have insecurities (plural), live with insecurity, or point at the insecurity of a job.
insecure + -ity, the suffix that turns a description into the state itself (secure → security, real → reality). The -ity is doing all the work here: it takes the wobble that insecure describes and packages it as something you can have, measure, or talk about.
就是 insecure 加上 -ity。-ity 這個字尾的功能是把一個「形容狀態的詞」變成「那個狀態本身」——secure→security、real→reality、possible→possibility 都是同一個動作。所以理解 insecurity 不需要另外學一個意思:先把 insecure 的畫面抓穩,再讓 -ity 把它裝進一個可以拿在手上的盒子就好。這也是為什麼它的三個意思和 insecure 的三個意思一一對應。
Wiktionary: insecurity < Medieval Latin īnsēcūritās; by surface analysis insecure + -ity
