下定的選擇

a choice made · noun · B1
A choice you make after thinking about it or talking it over.
決定
You can picture decision as the moment a fork in the road becomes a single chosen path: many options were open, you weighed them, and then you cut them down to one. The Latin root 'decidere' literally means 'to cut off' — once you decide, the other roads are cut away.
From Latin 'decidere', 'to cut off / cut down', from 'de-' (off) + 'caedere' (to cut) — choosing is cutting the other options away.
源自拉丁文 decidere「切掉、砍下」,由 de-(離開)+ caedere(切)組成——做選擇就是把其他選項切掉。

敢砍的性格
如果一個人很會、也很敢「砍掉其他選項」——很快就能選定、不拖泥帶水——那這種「乾脆切下去」的能力本身,就被叫做 decision。從「切的動作」延伸到「擅長切的特質」。
decisiveness · noun · B1
The quality of being able to choose quickly and with confidence.

官方裁定
當「砍到只剩一個」的這個動作是由有權力的人或機構正式做出的,它就帶有官方效力:法官、委員會替大家把選項切定。所以同一個「切定」的畫面,放到正式場合就成了「裁決」與「裁決權」。
official power to decide · noun · B1
The act or power of deciding something officially.
裁決權
