You can picture things falling into place around you: the shop is on your way home, the machine does the hard part, the meeting lands on a day you were free anyway. Convenience is that fit — how little the world makes you go out of your way.

From the word’s history

From Latin convenientia 'a meeting together, agreement, harmony', from convenire 'to come together; be suitable, be proper', built on com- 'together' + venire 'to come'. Things that 'come together' well are exactly what we now call convenient.

理解這一點,at your convenience(你方便的時候)和 marriage of convenience(為現實條件而結的婚)就都說得通了。
