核心畫面

Two rows of teeth locked tightly together, and a hand pulling the little slider along so they come apart and the thing falls open. Whatever was shut and held closed is now open again.

可以想成兩排咬得緊緊的齒,被一個小拉頭一路拉過去,就一排排鬆開,東西整個敞開。本來是「扣住、收緊」的狀態,現在被倒回更多收起可以想成兩排咬得緊緊的齒,被一個小拉頭一路拉過去,就一排排鬆開,東西整個敞開。本來是「扣住、收緊」的狀態,現在被倒回去了。這個「把扣在一起的東西拉開」的畫面,就是 unzip 從外套到電腦檔案共用的那條線。

From the word’s history

Wiktionary gives the word as un- + zip. The prefix un- on a verb means undoing the action, as in tie/untie and lock/unlock, so unzip is simply zip run backwards.

來源就是 un- 加 zip。un- 放在動詞前面表示把動作倒回去,像 tie/untie、lock/unlock。所以 unzip 字面上就是「把 zip 這個動作倒著做一次」。

Wiktionary entry 'unzip' (kaikki extract, source_ref kaikki:3f6f69a190036ae4:1394183008): "From un- + zip."

真的拉鍊

核心畫面原封不動:手上真的有一條拉鍊被拉開。差別只在句子裡誰當主詞。

拉開拉鍊

螢幕上的拉鍊

電腦把「收緊成一包」這件事叫 zip,於是把它拆開還原就順理成章叫 unzip。畫面沒變,只是那條拉鍊變成看不見的。

verb · B1

To open a computer file or folder that has been packed into a zip file, so that it goes back to its normal size and you can use the files inside.
