    not known or not stated; the exact detail has not been named yet.

    「unspecified」形容「細節還沒被說出來／還沒被指定」——東西或事情存在，只是 exact 的數字、日期、原因還沒公開。可以想成 specify（指定、說清楚）加上 un-，把「說清楚」翻成「還沒說清楚」。它跟 vague 容易搞混：unspecified 是「沒給出那個細節」；vague 是「說了，但講得模糊」。常見寫法：an unspecified date / number / amount。

Picture a form with one blank left deliberately empty: everyone knows there is a number or a name that belongs there, and it simply has not been said. The word marks the gap without denying that something fills it.

    • Obviously, we must reject the existence of an unqualified or unspecified right to know. If the right to know did not require disclosure of only specific (types of) data or information, a person could be said to have a right to know just anything whatsoever.
