    This word means not fixed, not clear, or not decided yet. You use it for time that has no clear end ('the meeting is postponed for an indefinite period' — nobody knows when it will happen), or for something that is not exact or not clear in your mind ('an indefinite feeling', 'an indefinite answer'). In grammar class, you may also meet 'indefinite article' — that is just the teacher's name for the words 'a' and 'an', because they do not point to one exact thing the way 'the' does.
