人做出來的小玫瑰
這一支是有人刻出來、摺出來的:材料是石頭、木頭、彩帶。
noun · C1
A round, flat decoration in the shape of an open flower, cut or made in stone, wood, plaster or another hard material.
玫瑰花飾;圓形花飾
Take a rose, press it flat, and shrink it. What is left is a small circle with opening out from one middle point. Every use of the word comes back to that one flat little flower: into a door, folded out of ribbon, grown by a plant against the ground, or printed in an animal's fur. The material changes; the shape does not.
Borrowed from Middle French and modern French rosette; by surface analysis, rose + -ette (a diminutive ending), so literally "little rose".
這個字是從法文 rosette 借來的,拆開來看就是 rose(玫瑰)加 -ette(小的),字面上是「小玫瑰」。所以「一朵縮小攤平的玫瑰」不是比喻,是這個字本來就寫著的東西。

自己長出來的小玫瑰
同樣一朵攤平的小花,但這一支沒有人動手——是植物和動物自己長成這個形狀。
