越線這件事本身
這一支就是字面的意思。差別只在可數不可數:一個指那種性質,一個指某個具體的舉動。
noun · C1
The quality of behaviour that is not decent: behaviour that goes against what people treat as fair, respectful or acceptable.
不得體;沒有分寸
One way to hold this word: there is a line that people quietly agree on — about how you treat others, and about what you show in public — and this word points at something on the far side of it. The line is never drawn on paper for everyday life, which is why the word feels heavy: using it says that the crossing was plain enough for everyone to see.
From in- ('not') plus decent plus -cy (the quality or the act). Literally 'the state of not being decent'.
由 in-(不)+ decent(得體、合宜)+ -cy(…的性質或行為)組成,字面就是「不得體的狀態」。-cy 這個尾巴同時可以指性質和行為,這正好說明了這個字為什麼會分成兩種用法:不可數時指那種性質,可數時指具體的一件事。

法律畫出來的那一段線
法律沒辦法管所有的不得體,所以它只挑出其中很窄的一塊,把界線寫成條文——公共場合、身體、性。核心畫面沒有變,變的是誰在畫線,以及越線之後會發生什麼。
noun · C1
In law, sexual behaviour in public that counts as an offence, especially uncovering parts of the body that are expected to stay covered.
妨害風化;猥褻行為
