The last point on a line — everything else has already happened, and this is what comes at the end. From that one position the word picks up different colours: relief when the end took too long to arrive, a signal to the listener when you reach the last item on your list, and a sense of settledness when the end is one nothing can be changed after.

From the picture

in closing · r · A2

used at the start of a sentence to show that this is the last thing you want to say.

for good, finally decided · r · B2

in a way that cannot be changed later.

Also in this word

lastly, in sequence · r · A2

used to show that something is the last thing that happens in a set of events.

at last · r · A2

after you have waited a long time, or after something was slow or hard.

終於
