adjective · B2
Cultivated land has been dug, planted and looked after by people so that crops or other plants can grow on it, instead of being left as it was.
Picture a piece of ground that somebody has been working on for years. It has been turned over, planted, weeded and watered, season after season. Nothing here happened by itself; every row is the result of slow, repeated care. Stand back and you can see it at a glance — this ground looks different from the beside it. Cultivated always points at that difference: a thing that has had human hands on it for a long time, and shows it.
