From convince, from Latin convincō (com- + vincō "to overcome, conquer") — literally to defeat someone's doubt or denial.
來自 convince，源頭是拉丁文 convincō：com- 加上 vincō「戰勝、打倒」。字面就是「把對方的否認打倒」。這個「打倒」的味道一直留在現代用法裡——所以你會發現這個字既能講理由強到讓人心服，也能講球隊贏得毫無懸念，兩邊都是同一種「壓過去、沒得爭」的力道。
