懊惱（又氣又失望）
The second the result comes out and it is not the one you were counting on. First a dull drop, then a flash of anger, and then the awkward thought that other people just watched it happen.
可以想成結果揭曉的那一秒：你本來以為穩了，結果沒有。心裡先是一悶，接著有點火，然後又想到旁邊還有人看著。chagrin 就是這三樣東西混在一起的那股感覺，中文最接近的說法是「懊惱」。它不是傷心，也不是後悔——它是「事情沒照我希望的走」的那一悶，而且往往還要當場裝沒事。

Borrowed from French chagrin, sorrow, from Middle French chagrin, pain or affliction. The older source is uncertain; one line links it to Old French graigne, grief or resentment.
借自法文 chagrin（悲傷、苦惱），更早的中古法文形式指「痛苦、折磨」。再往上的來源並不確定，有一說跟古法文 graigne（怨、悲）有關。從這條線看得出來，英文把一個很大的「不痛快」收窄成了一種很具體的東西：事與願違的那種懊惱。
