news report · noun · A2
a short news report on the radio or on television
Picture a short official notice put out by someone in charge: the facts, briefly, from the people who know. That is the whole word. Read it aloud on the radio and it becomes a news bulletin; print it and post it to members and it becomes a newsletter. The channel changes; the short-and-official part does not.
