hostile behaviour · noun · C1
Angry or threatening behaviour or feelings that often lead people to fight.
One way to picture it: towards someone in order to attack — the first move, made by you, not a response to being hit.
From Latin aggressiō, from aggredior 'I go towards, I approach, I attack' — ad- 'towards' + gradior 'I step, I walk'. The literal picture is of stepping up to someone.
Wiktionary — Latin aggressiō, from aggredior (ad- + gradior 'to step').
