Validity means how true, correct, or acceptable something is, based on facts or rules. In an argument, validity is about whether the logic makes sense — a valid argument follows correctly from its starting points, even if those starting points could still be wrong. For documents, validity means whether something can still legally be used — 'the validity of your passport' means whether it can still be used, or whether it has expired. In research, validity means whether a test actually measures what it claims to measure.
