From Middle English suppreme, partly from Middle French suppreme and partly from Latin suprēmus, superlative of superus 'that is above'.

源自拉丁文 suprēmus「最高的」，是 superus「在上的」的最高級。

You can picture supreme as sitting at the very top of a pile, with nothing and no one above it — the single highest point, whether that's the top of a ranking of power or the top of a scale of amount.

可以把 supreme 想成「站在最高處、上面再也沒有別人」：一座由高到低疊起來的塔，它就在最頂端那一格。核心畫面比較像金字塔的尖頂——不管比的是地位高低，還是程度多寡，它都是那個「再上去就沒有了」的最高點。
