    Progressively means little by little as time goes on — each step a bit more than the last. A pain can get progressively worse; a book can get progressively harder; nights can get progressively colder. It is a calm, slightly careful adverb, at home in school and news writing. Though actually, it can also mean “in a progressive way” when people talk about tax (higher earners pay a larger share) or about , but the everyday use is the time one: gradually. It does not mean “in a modern or cool way” by itself.
