From the word’s history

From Latin segmentum 'a piece cut off', from secare 'to cut'. At root a segment is literally a cut piece — the same 'cut' behind section and sector.

來自拉丁文 segmentum「切下來的一塊」，源自 secare「切」。segment 骨子裡就是「被切下來的一段」，跟 section、sector 是同一個「切」的家族，所以核心一直是「切出來的一塊」。
