to join together with other people or groups and act as one, usually because you all want the same thing.
文法及物、不及物兩種都可以：後面可以接受詞，也可以不接。
unite 是「合起來變成一個」——很多人、很多隊、很多國家，本來各做各的，現在一起行動。它可以想成從 one（一）長出來的字：uni- 這個開頭就藏著「一」，所以 unite 的畫面就像很多條線被綁成一條。英文裡它常帶著「大家想要同一件事」的味道：unite to do something（合起來去做某事）、unite behind someone（一起站在某人背後支持他）、unite against something（一起面對某個問題）、be united by something（因為某個共同點而合在一起）。跟 join 比一下就更清楚：join 常常是「一個人加進一個團體」，unite 是「好幾方一起變成一個整體」。
